Hands-Only CPR Challenge for High Schools

South Metro will be visiting all participating high schools in February to practice Hands-Only CPR with all students and staff. This is intended to empower our young community members to step up should the time come to save a life.

Engine Demonstrations & Station Tours

An engine/medic unit demonstration is when a fire apparatus and/or medical unit come to a specified location to provide an educational orientation to the fire apparatus and its equipment. Demos are generally 30 minutes long. During an engine/medic unit demo, personnel stay in-service and with their apparatus prepared to respond to calls for service.

3rd Grade Fire Safety Class

The program teaches children and families the different sounds a smoke alarm makes and what to do when you hear them, the most common causes of home fires, and how to plan and practice a home fire drill with everyone in your family.

This 45-60 minute class is currently only offered to 3rd grade classes in schools in South Metro's district.

Steps to Safety Class

The NFPA Steps to Safety™ Prevent Fire and Falls at Home program pairs fire and EMS professionals with community partners to educate older adults about home fire and fall safety through group presentations and the creation of a local resource network.

CPR, AED & First Aid

The South Metro Safety Foundation offers American Heart Association-certified classes that cover adult, child, and infant CPR/AED and First Aid. These classes are completed in just seven hours and are taught by experienced instructors who ensure that you achieve the highest level of skill competency. Upon completion of the course, you will be certified for two years. This one-day class is ideal anyone who wants to learn CPR/AED and First Aid.

Stop the Bleed Class

4 Million People Have Learned to Stop the Bleed, and you can, too! The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed program has prepared nearly 4 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person.

Fall Prevention Classes in Parker and Littleton

There are a variety of Fall Prevention Classes offered in Parker and Littleton through AdventHealth and ThinkFirst programs.

Free Car-Seat Inspections!

The South Metro Safety Foundation and South Metro Fire Rescue are pleased to offer courtesy inspections of child safety seats and booster seats for families that live or work in our fire district.

These inspections are held almost every Wednesday
from 10am - 2pm at

South Metro Safety Foundation

The South Metro Safety Foundation offers frequent classes and resources for a variety of topics for our community members.

Some of the classes offered include: - Hands-on Defensive Driving courses taught by First Responders.
- Caring for Older Adults - information for caretakers (both in an official and unofficial capacity) to better care for their aging adults.
- CPR, AED & First Aid - AHA-certified classes that cover adult, child, and infant CPR/AED and First Aid.

SMSF also provides Car Seat Inspections, and AED's are available for purchase.
